Brand: Chilis

Year purchased: these were a gift from my mother-in-law

Debut: Not until summer!

My mother-in-law had given me two pairs of shoes when we got together to celebrate my sister-in-law’s birthday.  Although I don’t usually wear flip-flops, these are special.  They have a cushioned footbed, so they’ll be comfortable and won’t wreck my feet, and they have a rhinestone buckle.  I love rhinestones maybe more than anything else.  I’ll be the fanciest girl at the beach this summer.

Brand: NaturalSoul by Naturalizer

Year purchased: 2012

Store: these were a gift from my mother-in-law

Debut: Not yet!

My in-laws got together to celebrate my sister-in-law’s birthday, so I wasn’t expecting to get a bag with two pairs of shoes!  It wasn’t my birthday, after all.  What’s strange is that I was wearing these shoes that day, and the flower patterns match exactly.  I also have these shoes with the same flowery pattern, and I recently somehow found a matching belt at a secondhand store.  Maybe someday I’ll find a matching purse…

Brand: Couturé

Year purchased: 2012

Store/Price: these were gifted to me by a friend who was cleaning out her shoe closet

Debut: dancing at First Ave

These boots are awesome.  I love the giant eyelets.  They don’t have a cheater zipper, so it’s lace on and lace off every time you wear them!  Old school.

Brand: Siren by Mark Nason

Store/Price: these were gifted to me by a friend who was cleaning out her shoe closet

These boots are badass and I can’t wait to wear them.  I’ve been searching for a pair of dark brown knee-high boots, and these basically fell into my lap.  Many thanks!

Brand: Etienne Aigner

Name: Cilantro

Year purchased: 2012

Store: Savers

Price: $3.50 (half off!)

Debut: not yet, but I have a skirt to wear with them

I had a thrifting date with some friends that just happened to be on MLK Jr Day, which meant that everything in both stores we went to was half off!  These shoes are beautiful.  I love Etienne Aigner shoes because they’re always so classic and classy.  These have a bit of a girly touch, too.

Navy leather boat shoes

March 10, 2012

Brand: Rock & Candy

Name: Boatie

Year purchased: 2011

Store: DSW

Price: $20.96

Debut: not yet

I had a business meeting in the suburbs one night that ended about twenty minutes before the DSW closed.  I had never been to this particular location before, so I thought I’d check out the clearance section in case they had something extraordinary.  Boy, did they!  I had fallen in love with these boat shoes in June, but couldn’t afford them at “full” price.  I kept my eye out for them all summer, but the navy leather color had sold out online very quickly and I thought my boat shoe ship had sailed because these were the only ones I liked.  Imagine my excitement when I found them five months later in my size on clearance!  Maybe I’ll have to take a trip on a boat this summer…

Brand: Naturalizer

Year purchased: 2011

Store: Unique Thrift

Price: $5.99

Debut: not yet, it’s still too cold out

One more mention of my inability to stay away from thrift stores.  I had business in the southern suburbs, which means a trip to Unique Thrift was on the agenda as well.  These are not my style at all, but for some reason I just love shoes like this from the ’70s and ’80s, probably because they remind me of the shoes my mom had when I was growing up.  The footbed is padded because they’re Naturalizer, so I hope they’ll be a good pair of go-to comfy summer heels.

Brand: Converse One Star

Year purchased: 2011

Store: Savers

Price: $10 (I think)

Debut: Matt’s Bar for dinner

My aforementioned thrift store addiction brought me into the Savers by my house one morning.  I fell in love with these sneakers immediately, but I didn’t want to spend too much money, so I just carried them around the store for awhile to make sure the clothes in my cart didn’t fit and I didn’t have to buy anything else.  They are simple and casual with a bit of pizzazz, perfect to wear with skirts and shorts while riding my bike.

Brand: Etienne Aigner

Name: Michele

Year purchased: 2011

Store: Savers

Price: $12

Debut: the Hexagon for a rock show

I have a minor addiction to secondhand stores, and if I’m in a neighborhood, town, or area that’s not near my home, I tend to take advantage and stop at whatever thrift store I see.  I was on my way north to visit my mom and bring her a belated birthday gift.  The Savers I passed had just opened, so of course I had to look around for a minute.  I hemmed and hawed about getting these shoes because I loved them so much, but $12 is a lot for a pair of shoes at a thrift store.  I finally determined that if I had seen navy and white Etienne Aigner loafers in my size on the internet, I would consider $12 (and no shipping!) to be quite the steal, so I got them.  So preppy, so classic, and I love the texture on the white part.

Brand: Buskens

Name: Chico

Year purchased: 2011

Store: In Love Again on Etsy

Price: $20 + $5 shipping

Debut: not yet, waiting for warmer weather!

I love these shoes.  I’ve had these in my “favorites” on Etsy for months and months, and I finally was able to get them with Christmas money.  I cannot wait to wear these with skirts and shorts all summer long.  They have a padded footbed and super soft leather, and they’re red.
